Many thanks to Bandon by the Sea Rotary for donating $1,000 to SOVO from their annual veterans golf fundraiser. This money is earmarked for the Coos County STAND DOWN which serves hundreds of veterans each year. The Stand Down, which may be the largest, per capita, in the state, is only one of the many ways that SOVO serves our area veterans. Did you know that there are 7108 veterans in Coos County alone – and that 552 of them are women? More than 1 in 5 veterans have mental health issues. According to the Devereaux Center which serves those who are homeless and have mental health issues, veterans account for 13% of their clients. Thanks to this donation, more will be served.
