Construction Phase I
Construction Begins
West Coast Monument provided all the granite work for the memorial, while West Coast Contractors commenced with the forming and concrete work, marking significant progress on the project. The process includes Concrete Day, where pouring and finishing take place. After the forms are stripped, they are prepped and ready for the next pour. We are deeply grateful to Oregon Standard Concrete Pumping for their generous donation of labor and machinery. Special thanks to Lary West and Mike Harris for capturing these moments with their photos, which beautifully document our journey.
Reese Electric has successfully completed the ditching for the electrical work, paving the way for the next phase of the project. In addition, Central Lincoln People’s Utility District has installed a new power pole, further advancing our efforts and ensuring a reliable power source for the memorial. These critical developments highlight the ongoing progress and dedication of everyone involved.
Larry Burrow’s Construction Company has expertly formed the five main pedestals, a critical milestone in our project. With the forms now stripped, the five majestic pedestals stand revealed, marking a significant advancement in our journey. This achievement is a testament to the skill and dedication of the construction team, bringing us closer to our vision.
Granite
The process of setting the granite over the concrete memorial stones is a significant and delicate phase in our project. Each granite slab, chosen for its durability and beauty, is carefully positioned on the concrete bases that have been meticulously prepared by our construction team.
This stage involves precise measurements and alignment to ensure that the granite sits perfectly over the concrete, creating a seamless and polished appearance. Skilled craftsmen work diligently to secure the slabs, using specialized techniques to guarantee stability and longevity.
The installation of the granite not only enhances the visual appeal of the memorial but also symbolizes the strength and resilience of our community. As each piece is set in place, we move one step closer to realizing our vision of a lasting tribute, honoring those we commemorate with respect and reverence.
The combination of granite and concrete embodies the permanence and solemnity of the memorial, making it a place of reflection and remembrance for generations to come. This significant milestone reflects the collective efforts and dedication of everyone involved in bringing this project to fruition.
Pavers
Surrounding the memorial, paver bricks serve as a heartfelt tribute to our military personnel who have given the “Ultimate Sacrifice.” These bricks not only honor the fallen but also create a “Living Memorial” for all military veterans, ensuring their bravery and service are forever remembered.
